Unmanned Systems Forces (USF) of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Formation and Mandate

The Unmanned Systems Forces (USF / SBS) are a branch of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, established for centralized command of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and their combat employment. Since June 3, 2025, Major Robert Brovdi (callsign "Madyar" / "Magyar") has served as Commander of the USF.

The creation of a separate service branch for unmanned systems marked recognition of the critical role drones play in modern warfare. Ukraine became one of the first countries in the world to separate drone units into a distinct command structure.

Primary Missions of the USF:

"Drone Line"

On February 9, 2025, the 414th Separate Brigade of Unmanned Systems "Madyar's Birds" (Птахи Мадяра) officially joined the "Drone Line" project.

"Drone Line" is an initiative aimed at uniting the most effective unmanned systems units of Ukraine's Defense Forces to scale up and coordinate UAV employment at the front.

Formation of the USF Grouping

On June 11, 2025, the Unmanned Systems Forces Grouping was established, unifying units from the "Drone Line" and the Unmanned Systems Forces.

On July 1, 2025, a unified mission accounting and verification system was implemented within the USF Grouping, covering all units, along with an electronic combat log.

On July 2, 2025, the first public monthly report of the USF Grouping on combat performance results was released.

4. "Candy = Results": scaling up in-house ammunition production.

5. Unified Critical Component Stockpile: a 50-item package of critical supplies (Starlink, batteries, EW systems, FPV and bomber components).

6. UGV Logistics: ground robotic platforms as the primary means of logistics.

7. Personnel Replenishment: unified recruiting campaign, network of FPV, bomber, fixed-wing, EW, and ELINT schools.
