Awarded by: President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy
Hero of Ukraine is the highest state award of the country. The conferral of this title upon Brovdi represented recognition of:
His pioneering role in developing Ukrainian drone warfare
Combat merits from territorial defence to brigade command
Personal courage and effectiveness in combat conditions
Contribution to formation of new warfare tactics
Less than a month after receiving the award (June 3, 2025), Brovdi was appointed Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Presidential Award "For Defence of Ukraine" (August 28, 2023)
The award represented official recognition of participation in the country's defence. At the time of the award, Brovdi already had significant combat experience: defence of Kyiv, creation of "Madyar's Birds" (Птахи Мадяра), 110 days in Bakhmut.
Honorary Badge "For Development of Zakarpattia" (June 2023)
Appointment as Commander of USF (June 3, 2025)
Appointed by: President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy
Position: Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
The appointment represents recognition at the highest level. Brovdi became head of a separate branch of the armed forces — a unique structure without direct analogues in most world armies.
The appointment of a former volunteer businessman as commander of an entire branch of the armed forces after three years of war is an exceptional case of career advancement.
Russian Conviction in Absentia (March 2026)
Sentence: Life imprisonment
Charges: Terrorist attack (in absentia)
The Russian conviction in absentia is paradoxically a form of recognition of Brovdi's impact on the course of the war. Inclusion on the list of most wanted persons indicates that Russian command considers his activities a significant threat.
Hungarian Sanctions (August 2025)
Ban on entry to Hungary and Schengen Area countries — following the strike on infrastructure of the Druzhba oil pipeline.
This ban has symbolic significance, considering Brovdi's Hungarian ethnic origin.
Impact on UAV Doctrine of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
Beyond formal awards, Brovdi has had significant impact on the development of Ukrainian military affairs:
Pioneering in Drone Warfare:
Creation of "Madyar's Birds" (Птахи Мадяра) in May-June 2022 (26 personnel)
First FPV drone of the unit assembled in August 2022
Systematization of five functions of combat drones
Scaling from aerial reconnaissance group to brigade
Conceptual Innovations:
"Arrival-Departure (Casualty Balance)" doctrine — focus on enemy loss balance
Competent mobilization — recruitment by professional skills
12/15 layers of USF impact
"Candy = Results" — organic ammunition production
Strategic Strikes:
Expansion of strike geography to 1,500–2,000 km deep into Russian territory
Creation of Central Strike Administration of USF for coordinating deep operations
113 air defence targets hit (December 2025 – April 2026)
Effectiveness Results:
USF = 2.2% of Armed Forces of Ukraine, but >35% of strikes
10/10 top places in "yeBaly" rating (2025)
85,000+ enemy personnel in 10 months of USF
